I wanted to capture a serene expression on her face. We know she was very young, and I wanted to convey innocence and softness — so I chose watercolor as the perfect medium for her delicate facial features. For the background, I used acrylic to evoke the feeling of an ancient fresco discovered on a wall, with paint worn and peeling away. I wanted those missing layers to reveal gold beneath — an ethereal light shining through. Real 24k gold leaf brings those accents to life.
