As a child always felt I looked very different compared to my classmates. I was pale, with freckles, and red hair. I desperately wanted to be tanned and be blonde or brunette! Then when I was 11 I saw a calendar with pre Raphaelite paintings, and someone told me it reminded them of me. I became fascinated with how they looked. Whilst my painting style isn't quite like the old masters, this painting is inspired by their works, and the impact it had on me as a little girl.
